Introduction to the purpose of this blog

This blog is dedicated to my Lord Jesus Christ, who is God eternal and who fills me with His Holy Spirit to equip me unto good works.  It is also dedicated to my husband, who is my rock, my six beautiful children, Jeremiah, Joshua, Josiah, Rebekah, Jonathan and Joseph and my children's children.

For many years the Lord has pressed upon my heart the importance of teaching my children about His Word.  I know that when I stand before the Lord, that is all that will really manner - all the academics, sports, accomplishments, fame, fortune and creative artwork will remain behind; only spiritual things are eternal.

I began a project last year that I had to put on hold, but want to start up again.  Thus the reason for this blog!  I thought it would be great to have it accessible to my children wherever life takes them.  I hope this to be true.

The project is speaking and teaching the Bible to my children in audio and written form so that when I'm gone, they can always hear me tell them about God's Word and how much I love them.  I am not a preacher or a minister but I do preach and minister to my children.  However, I am a teacher and teaching God's Word to them has always been the most important thing in my homeschooling journey.

Another reason to do this is for my dyslexics.  Three years ago I discovered I was dyslexic when my two boys found out they were.  Since dyslexia runs in families I was asked who else in the family has it.  I thought for a few minutes and realized my father was and when I thought about it, that would explain why reading, writing and math were so difficult for me a student but art always came easy.

Thus is the reason for this project.  Since I have children who are currently struggling in reading, I thought it best to make a record of me speaking and explaining the Bible in audio form.  When they get older, it would still be valuable to them because for dyslexics, reading while being read to is very powerful; they rely on audiobooks all the time!

So I recorded myself speaking the first few chapters of the Bible.

Then I thought, "I should record myself explaining it too!  I mean, wouldn't be great to pass this down to my grandchildren one day?"

Then today I thought, "Perhaps that's not enough just to speak it.  Perhaps I should write all these things down so they can access it at anytime, anywhere.  Maybe a blog would do the trick.  So Written Posts was established.

I sat for a few minutes thinking of what to write as a name for this blog.  I figured all the good ones were already taken like "listenmychildren" or "teachyourchildrenwell"  Anyway - too long!  Then I thought, "What am I trying to DO with this blog?"  I was trying to train up my child in the way of the Lord as mentioned in the Law of Moses to "write them on the door posts of the house."
"And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.  And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:   And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.  And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.  And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates". (Deuteronomy 6:5-9 old KJV)

Isn't it funny that when you blog you are making 'posts' like written messages to the world?  This is exactly what God told the children of Israel to do in their home, with God's Word.

In my house, almost every picture hanging is related to scripture and have scripture on them.  I feel it's very important to have God's Word decorating your home as constant reminders of the awesome God that we serve!

So I feel it fitting to name this blog "Written Posts" because I am posting in the blog-world the written words of the Living God!

I'm hoping this blog will be a life-long process and around for many years to come until the Lord brings me home either in death or rapture.

To my children specifically:
I love you all and always will!  Please read, listen and come back and let the Lord let me teach you on how to walk in this perverse and sinful world that we live in.  You are my babies and always will be.  I want to nurse you with the milk of God's Word and give you meat to eat it as well.  Won't you let Mommy feed you?  FOOD!
